Took me 11 years, but I found it. Hindsight being 20/20, it’s pretty obvious to me that I’d love this sort of role, but I needed that journey to reach this level.
I was talking to a colleague in one of the classroom hallways about using smoked shredded chicken in a crack chicken casserole and one of the Nigerian students stopped, reversed, and quietly interjected “Uncle Will, may I join this conversation?” 🤣🤣🤣

The past few career stops, I had a fleeting feeling that I’d found my long term spot. I have that feeling every single day at work now. One of the deans called an end of day 1:1 with me yesterday to lay out a 10 year plan to keep me here and make me a dean. I’ve been here 4.5 months. I’m home.
