One of the best things about Bogotá is its culture of murals, graffiti and street art. You could spend an entire week just walking around to look at street art. Here were a few of my favs from a walk this morning. Hasta la huego, Bogotá! Can't wait to come back!
Last night the organizers took us out for an incredible pizza dinner at Madre, and we were joined by a handsome special guest. I named him Maestro, after one of the restaurant's signature drinks. He stayed until we finished appetizers and then came to say bye when we were done. Good blinks.
-The nun death portraits was my favourite part of the gallery, this one is a modern take with a twist. -Our first Bogotá rain! -Mambe noodles, one of the two best dishes I've eaten in my entire life. -Seth's masterclass, hosted by Ricardo Rodríguez (from mulapereira).
After lunch with folks from the Canadian embassy they gave us handcrafted, ethically sourced traditional souvenirs, I got a hummingbird completely randomly, which is very meaningful to me. The next day we got to meet with the cultural assistant of the national bank, and see their art exhibit.
We got to tour the national library and see some early colonial publications and Spanish cultural imports. Obligatory shot from the rooftop patio of my hotel.
After the opening ceremonies of Entreviñetas, the organizers took me out to La Juguetería, a restaurant with exquisitely cursed decorations. Our amazing translator Laura suggested I try the traditionally prepared banana-leaf wrapped fish, so buttery and sweet. I ate very well on this trip.
Second day in town, the cartoonist Seth, his wife Tania and I took the funicular up to Monserrate. As is my way on vacation, I forgot to put on sunscreen and have spent the rest of the week with a tomato red forehead. I made the reverse camino, I'm thinking of climbing the mountain tomorrow morning.
I love this game! It is so much fun, even the setup is getting right into the game, and the Legacies mechanic is just such a wonderful way to explore a history. I wish more people were into games like Microscope!!
