Yeah I mean when has he sat for an interview with hard q’s versus being shouted random questions at a press conference You gotta let them be comfortable enough to ramble on after giving them the rope to hang themself (*mods - I mean figuratively not literally)

The thing with Trump is, we've got miles of tape on him rambling and saying all sorts of crazy and incoherent things. We don't need an adversarial interviewer to get it. It's his natural state. It happens any time he goes off script in his speeches.

The Bob Woodward interview springs to mind but that was more softball and conservative. Jonathan Swan I recall pressed him a bit harder, but still not really hitting the mark. We know why Trump and his handlers will never allow a real interview, but it’s revealing when folks like him do.
