I feel like I’ve lived in Minnesota long enough that I’m now embarrassed to ask this question but here it goes: Am I supposed to bag my own groceries or do I just stand there awkwardly until the checker does it? What the hell is this interaction?

When I lived there 20 years ago, I think it was only Cub Foods that was like that. Super awkward my first time. But maybe that has spread. TJ’s in Seattle can be 50/50 though I’ve noticed.
