I'm trying to help my own colleague who has this burnout issue. This is a *major* problem with peer review, and it gets vicious in some subfields. So we decided to co-author a paper on... peer review questionable practices.
Really, had three rejections in a row, one from a good but not top journal, and two from top journals. Two review sets were excellent, and one, for the most flashy journal, just unhelpful, but I can use it to make my paper more substantial. That's a lot of work, but you can learn to enjoy it.
5/ Conclusion: Rethinking our approach to embodied cognitive neuroscience by embracing neuroethology and evolutionary studies can lead to more robust and empirically grounded advancements. 5/5
