China took what, 30 years? Iran is 50 and counting, frantically sabotaging any moves towards for normalisation. As for Cuba .... 😅 I tend towards accepting the Taliban, at least the country is vaguely peaceful for the first time since '79.
I generally think it's probably better to accept the country for what it is than to punish it for not being the country you want it to be. And let's face it, spending a trillion dollars and flattening the odd village to prop up a brutal kleptocracy was never a brilliant idea.
