I was recently told in strong language that any time I gave a thumbs-up I may as well be flipping off the person I was texting with.🤷

I've always thought the idea of these things as being the new mythology (or submyth, as LeGuin puts it) is something of a misnomer and that these stories (pop culture) should instead fall under the category of folklore.
