While I have not found any fraudulent GFMs I have found a few Gazans themselves being scammed- by receivers charging fees or people offering to promote for them for a fee etc. I always think a good question to ask is how often they are receiving the money and if they pay anything to the receiver
If you’re wondering how Gazans get/ spend money- there are still banks that operate in Gaza- they pay in Israeli shekels and Israel still allows (a limited amount) of items in for sale. Gazans also do wire transfers/ crypto/ PayPal/ moneygram etc. There are also ATMs with huge percentage fees
Not just Gazans - being disabled and unable to work at the moment, and struggling with the benefits system, I've had to set up a GFM too. Within minutes of posting the link here I had "crowdfunding experts" DMing me offering to "help" for a skim.
