My cartoon covering my colleague today in www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3503... This week saw the return of beneficiaries bashing. It should be a national sport. Anyway, Louise Upston obviously thinks there's one rule for her & another for human beings with complex lives...it'll be sanction time.

Two panels two titles: left side 'One rule for me' right side, 'another for thee'. Louise Upston in the left panel from 24th July 2024 saying, "When I forgot to show for the tabling of my own bill it was a genuine mistake!" On the right, "when you fail to show up for your benefits meeting you will be punished!"

Worst test match! Not just because of the loss but empty seats in stadium, bad anthem, terrible in game music. NZRFU looking at you.

‘Health NZ is currently overspending at the rate of approximately $130 million a month’ No, Health NZ is currently underfunded at the rate of approximately $130 million a month. At least.

A good read… “Politics right now is permeating every layer of how we live, especially in Wellington. What might be just a news story about redundancies for some is a life-altering moment for local families and communities. We all know someone who’s lost their job, or is at risk in the near future.”

Layoffs, tax cuts and flat dinners: The sitcom life of a Wellington twenty-something

Life in Wellington in 2024 feels like being trapped in a sitcom, with a bizarre cast of characters and no laugh track.

"Some conclusions seem to be clear: 1) support your local book festival... 2) buy books locally (use BookHub)... 3) get emotional about books and bookshops – remember how much they bring to the quality of your life and your community..." #pukapukathespinoff.co.nz/books/24-05-...

Why are book festivals thriving while the publishing industry is struggling?
Why are book festivals thriving while the publishing industry is struggling?

While record audiences are flocking to festivals, publishers are shrinking and shops are closing down. What’s eating the books sector?

Sunny but cool in Ōtautahi today, think I picked the last strawberries and frilly lettuce of this season. Made a chicken salad. 🌱🇳🇿

Vege garden pretty much sorted for winter. Compost, pea straw, some plantings. Vivid green highlights from spinach and young silverbeet.🇳🇿🌱

Bright green spinach plants in the garden.
