Hello Prim, and welcome to Bluesky Impulse. Saw someone holding onto your handle for you a few days ago, glad you got it. Think that is the case with a few other of the hermits. They'd likely have to contact the others if they want their handles here. Glad it was not a genuine impersonator o/

Definitely... Even while currating who I follow, it was difficult to escape. Stopped using socmed much because of it.

Also, should have seen it coming. Such fragile ego could not stand it when people wanted to carve out a space for themselves that made it harder for stalkers and harassers. Of course space man was going to get offended that he could not see probably 20% of users because they blocked him.

bleh, one of the difficulties in replacing socmed instead of using another is trying to follow people across platforms. Always be alert when using extensions of course, but the Sky Follower Bridge extension is easing that pain greatly.

I see, maybe CS could boot them from the handle since it's clear impersonation and against TOS, though suspect CS to be swamped. No real good reason for someone to do this except for attention and/or attempting to scam people.

A little guide for artists in today's AI search result hellscape. This is how I've been finding trustworthy plant/animal art references on iNaturalist, a platform built to share wildlife photos and map biodiversity all over the planet. #SciArtwww.inaturalist.org/journal/fran...

full text in the link above. but here's a snippet:

Guide: Using iNaturalist to find art references
As a scientific illustrator focusing on animals, I find iNaturalist to be a crucial part of my workflow. However, I feel like this potential has been overlooked by other artists. In this guide, I explain how I use the site to curious artists who might want to start doing the same.

Note: iNaturalist is a platform primarily concerned with wildlife, not domesticated species. You won't find pugs or calico cats, but there are 464,000+ species for you to browse through.

1. Why iNaturalist?
As of today (early 2024), search engine results have been flooded by AI-generated images. Beyond the well-known ethical issues, these images are often anatomically incorrect or factually wrong, making them unreliable references.

I ran out of alt text space here
