Had a big unexpected breakthrough with some tricky dialogue this morning 🥳 I was so happy I couldn't stop grinning down at the pages like an idiot 😂 #writingcommunity

My top read of September was Woman in White by @erynmcconnell.bsky.social. 5 stars

This is the story of two women. Emily who lives in wartime London trying to bring up two children alone while her husband is away fighting, and Gemma who lives in a new build flat on the site of a recently demolished prison
Gemma is an every-woman getting started in life, moving into a new place who suddenly finds herself haunted by the mysterious and titular Woman in White. It's a short book but once again McConnell demonstrated mastery over slow burn evolving terror. I read this over a couple of nights and flew through it.
This book contains two of my favourite horror-mystery tropes: the vengeful spirit, and the dual timeline gradually unravelling the story.
