As I pointed out in my book, in 2021, when he made $246 million, Zaslav made **3600** times the pay of his lowest paid worker. In 1 decade, he made $1 billion, while most industry incomes did not go up or went *down* Hollywood loves it some extreme income inequality, especially in recent years.
Flight attendants, deemed essential workers, are sleeping in their cars and working gig jobs to supplement their $20k/year salary, while airline execs make 1000 times that. It's truly shocking how much we have normalized extreme income inequality.
Working “on reserve” with hours of unpaid labor makes it difficult for new flight attendants to turn the job into a career.
In 2000, a friend of mine, a flight attendant, was able to buy her first house. Then 9/11 happened. She didn't get laid off right away. Took another eight years. Remember when airline execs took our money and didn't save jobs? This shit never ends.
[P] I hereby offer to tank Warner Bros. in 1/3 the time for 1/3 the cost. Call me, board of directors!
im not joking, those attendants should quit and find other work for now cuz that's ridiculously low pay. like oh my god
You'll never guess who zaslav called a "big brother"!
It isn't just that he makes so much more money - it's that he makes so much more money for sucking. If it matters not how well you do your job but only if you started with money and have friends in high places, why will anyone put effort into their work? Whose money is Zaslav going to get then?
I firmly believe that ANY other person, chosen totally at random and who isn't deliberately trying to ruin the company, would do at least as well. Maybe not better, but at minimum not worse.
When classic Hollywood accounting met the new Silicon Valley VC accounting.
And for what? Are they happy? Is the world better off? We are burning down our houses to merely warm our hands.
And it’s ALL debt.
