A hill I will die on: it’s harder to write short than write long. Do you want 6k words on a given topic I know/care about? I can do that no problem. Every year when I did my top 10 list & had to summarize 10 entire seasons of TV in under 100 words per entry? “Why have the gods forsaken me” etc etc
I should be working harder on a textbook of the class I co teach but it looks like it’s near maximum sizes Amazon and most POD companies can do. Splitting it in two?… ugh.
This! This is why I always tell ppl, and did myself, start small, learn how to work short, and then increase, because short is the harder trick and once you get it down you can do way more.
writing 11 minute animated shorts that need character and jokes and theme and three acts is not easy, let me tell you!
Oh god, and that feeling in print when you finally figure out the exact right phrasing to fit the space and the period at the end makes it run over and you’re like “will Art notice if I reduce the font size by like .1?” (Art always notices.)
