Up until the early 1910s, movie studios did not credit actors by name in order to block a star system that would prevent them from treating onscreen talent as interchangeable and replaceable. Hollywood has always viewed artists as something in the way of the business of making movies.

Moguls view movies as a product, only declaring they are art to sweep up ego-salving awards. Always have. AI is at odds with art and artists but it is 100% in line with the movie business and they will do anything to embrace it. Artists are the pesky creatures they indulge to get content.
