Local library seems to have a few copies, so I might give that a try when the to-read list is a *tad* more under control!
I only have the Wikipedia entry to go by - ever since getting about three episodes into OFMD and going "hang on, loads of this is based on truth!" I've been intending to duo some proper reading. Add the Republic of Pirates, a roughly democratic cooperative that ran on New Providence for 12 years... and maybe the most fanciful element of Taika Waititi's "Our Flag Means Death" was merely the chronological licence (Spanish Jackie and Zheng Yi Sao couldn't have met Stede Bonnet).Add the Republic of Pirates, a roughly democratic cooperative that ran on New Providence for 12 years... and maybe the most fanciful element of Taika Waititi's "Our Flag Means Death" was merely the chronological licence (Spanish Jackie and Zheng Yi Sao couldn't have met Stede Bonnet).

I mean, they're clearly 90s carriages and a bit rattly but perfectly clean and comfortable, as long as you don't mind sharing toilets/bathrooms (1st class sleepers are ensuite).
Long story short, would definitely recommend the ES. We took the private couchette option: cheaper than the 1st class sleeper compartment (make up your own bunk with provided sheet, blanket and pillow, bring your own picnic) but you have your own space.
