I also reckon there's a touch of anthropomorphism going on with the integrations of LLMs in our thinking. One of humanity's best traits is how easily we fall in love with things like it's one of us: Animals, Rocks, Fictional Zombie Atomic Cowboys, Home assistants, the list goes on.

I think LLMs like ChatGPT are a bit like Smartphones and Social Media. Stuff like it existed before but it was niche and clunky. Then that one thing comes along and it just clicks with people because of the right conditions, and suddenly they can't remember a time without it.

I get that. But honestly, I was flattered. Like my stuff was so good they thought I had to have had help. I was the new guy and the realisation that it was all me scored me big brownie points with the higher ups.

I wrote a big process document at work and my boss comes up to me and asks "There's a lot in there, did you use ChatGPT to form most of it and you filled in the rest?" They were genuinely surprised that it all came from my brain. It felt like I was accused of using an aimbot after a 360 no-scope.

What killed Threads for me was that it's aggressively mobile. I remember trying it out and thinking, "Yeah, I could scroll this at work in the middle of a meeting," and Zucc was like, "Social media on a computer? Absolutely not"

I did the same with my 3DS and Vita. Did one after the other and had an amazing weekend tinkering. Then, put both down and haven't touched them since. Instead, I have been eyeing a Myoo Mini Plus and fantasising about all the games and ways I can organise them on it.

I've seen a few setups with the light over the monitor. Does that light make a difference? Less eye strain? Or is it just aesthetic? I've got a pair of light bars behind my monitors pointed at the wall. It's a nice diffusing light without being intense or creating screen-glare.

I remember huddling around a desktop with the side panel off at my Dads friends' place, checking out a developer preview of Windows ME. It was definitely a lot cooler back then before we knew better. Also, it was the first time I saw someone use AOL that wasn't in a movie.
