My 10/09/24 postcard captures some of the construction workers upgrading the channel, which has been part of an ongoing project for weeks. Though not as spectacular as the balloons, their efforts reflect the hard work reshaping the city’s infrastructure.

As I walked north along the diversion channel, hoping to catch the balloons, I could only spot them far off. The sky had already cleared by the time I neared Balloon Fiesta Park. My 10/08/24 postcard features a roadrunner perched comfortably on a fence along Inspiration Drive, soaking up the early sun. These birds have become so familiar in Albuquerque that I now spot them more often than neighborhood cats. It’s one of those things that make our city different.

My 10/07/24 postcard captures a piece of graffiti art found beneath Interstate 40. This colorful creation is one of many decorating the cement canvases in the underpass, adding vibrant life to an otherwise industrial space.

The art caught my eye, turning a hidden corner of the city into an open-air gallery.

Walking down Southern Ave, I encountered a Carpenter Bee busy at work on a Moonflower just before the sun began to close its bloom. My 10/06/24 postcard captures that moment, showcasing the bee’s dedication in the morning light.

Walking down Natalie Ave towards the bike trail, my wife spotted something small and vibrant woven into the chainlink fence. My 10/05/24 postcard captures that bright discovery—a beautiful bloom entwined in the metal fence.

While walking today, I came across a charming piece of lawn art. My 10/04/24 postcard captures a stone hummingbird frozen in mid-flight, feeding from a metal flower.

While walking down Smith Ave, I was joined by an unexpected companion—a curious roadrunner who paced right alongside me. My 10-03-24 postcard captures this moment with the bird, which gave me the feeling I wasn’t alone on my walk.

It seemed to expect something from me, acting as if it was used to people and possibly even looking for food. While walking along Natalie Ave, I came across a rose still in bloom, well into October. My 10/02/24 postcard captures its beauty, standing resilient as fall settles around it.

This morning, I took the North Channel Trail in the opposite direction, and it rewarded me with a stunning view of the Sandia Mountains as the sun began to rise. My 10/01/24 postcard captures that moment, taken from the trail just north of UNM, as it runs parallel to the freeway.

The soft light bathed the dust in the air, creating a gentle glow on the mountain.

On my walk down Trumbull Ave towards UNM, I passed a group of sunflowers catching the morning light. My 09/30/24 postcard features one of those bright, golden blooms standing tall as the day began.
