The history class I’m about to teach will generate about $130K for the university. As an adjunct with a PhD I will receive under $6K or roughly 4.5%. Two observations: 1. humanities courses are cash cows, defunding them is political not economic! 2. university instructors are grossly underpaid!
The fact that it's an approved and accepted part of legal proceedings in this broken country to go "okay we are going to bring this suit to a specific county in a specific state to get a specific judge who hates trans people so we automatically win" is one of the most infuriating things in it

Yes, I have a LOT OF BEEF with Biden. So much beef. and There is no version of the story that involves Republicans gaining more control of our government now that ends well. Not a single one. Come on. We know this. The answer is: Voting can't be the END of our fight for change. Ever.
If you think that voting doesn't matter, you're naive and reckless. If you think the work stops with voting, you're ignorant about how much our horrific systems and structures continue to harm under every presidency. The work encompasses and surpasses voting. We have big, big work to do.

While the total number of out LGBTQ elected officials has increased 10% in the last year, the number of out transgender officials decreased for the first time.
Those who can, teach. Those who can't, push educators aside and scam every possible dollar out of school systems.

Day 1 of the #LitMath2024 conference done & I'm exhausted. Why do they have 8am sessions? Today's start was 10am & it was lovely! Now, I'm flopped in my hotel room, waiting for dinner to arrive. Why? Because I'm still masking in public & not eating in public if I can avoid it (needed to on plane).
