I draw for me, but I can't pay myself very well. And it's very difficult to even build a portfolio for anyone when I have zero connections and have to compete with people who have been doing this and making connections for much longer than I have.
On one hand, not having to appease to a mass audience or algorithm is a little liberating and I can just draw all the dumb stuff I want. But on the other hand, it discourages me from investing in any artistic future as my expenses continue to pile up and I'm stuck at two draining minimum-wage jobs
Honestly, I've basically all but given up that I will ever be a financially successful artist. I feel like any window I would have had in the past was blocked by restrictions in the past that I wasn't able to get past until it was too late.
