Charlatans thrive when people want to believe the lies they're told. That's the situation right-wing grifters and leaders find themselves in. A lot of white people want to hear that their worst impulses and biases are correct, and they are ready to embrace all "evidence."

In a different context, Austria, it is remarkable to notice the way that the extreme right-wing party has changed their messaging. It's positive, speaks to emotions and I'm certain will win a huge share of new voters. "Your heart says yes" is their current slogan. For too many this is true. 😔

And there's a lot of manipulation involved! Knowing what people's brains will be drawn to is part of gathering power!
