If it is any consolation: both sides of the Atlantic :( Even our free drinks & plenty of food institute X mas party seems to attract fewer people every year. Except may be some die hard microbiologists

The disengagement is real. I see it too. Sparse attendance at colloquia and seminars that students ask for. I know they're pulled in so many different directions but there also seems to be a lot of apathy.

Het is overduidelijk dat de weg naar een post-neoliberaal-kapitalistische samenleving niet zonder slag of stoot zal gaan. Kunnen wij, 'gewone Nederlanders' iets dan iets doen? Zeker! (1) ons informeren; (2) het bespreken met vrieden; (3) lid worden van een vakbond; (4) en van een politieke partij.
