I sort of don't care WHY they like Trump - life's too short to get into these people's heads more than you have to - but I really think the racism thing is very dominant over like, "I want tax cuts" as an explanation for why people in the media who like him like him bsky.app/profile/ronh...

With God as my witness, I think American elites are more bigoted than the median white American

What was the latest finding? People experiencing diminished or diminishing cultural and societal relevance and importance like Trump?

I lean toward racism at the ground, and tax cuts at the top, but with a healthy mix all along the distribution*. *sucks to be poor and love tax cuts because you aren't getting any under 45

The bigoted viewpoints consistently propped up / subsidized in the oped section tells you all you need to know about how the owners / mgmt of the paper feels, not that complicated.

It's always racism

It also sort of doesn’t matter. Even if someone doesn’t support Trump for his racism, supporting Trump for any reason requires ignoring or excusing his racism and the racism of his supporters. It’s racism by omission. “I’m willing to ignore racism for tax cuts.” Is not an exoneration.

If we're judging by the parts of his platform they've jumped on board the most with, it's hating trans people, and hating "woke" college kids and the way they "cancel" people. But like you said, it doesn't really matter and any individual issue can be as easily explained by "they think it works"
