It's not good that Nuzzi had an affair but that's not the damning part of the story. The damning part is that she continued to present herself as a disinterested observer instead of disclosing this *massive* personal conflict of interest. Printing lies in the newspaper!

Right, it would have been embarrassing regardless but maybe she could have survived professionally. Instead i suspect she’ll be an adjunct professor at austin u before long.

Including pushing for him to be on the presidential debate stage!

This is not considered a problem by a bunch of the elite DC journos because they see their actual work output as a type of delicate kayfabe for the rubes and do not feel any obligation to their audience to provide them accurate information. Their *real* audience is the powerful.

Affair is mostly whatever. People do people. But this is as bad as if she had been HIRED by the JFK Jr campaign without disclosure.

no one gives or should give a shit if she fucked the neighbor or whatever. so disingenuous for people to pretend that adultery is the issue here. we're not her damn fiancé. (tho he doesn't seem too happy either, but that's their problem) "Actually, it IS about ethics in...journalism"

She's the athlete who talks like they are trying to win but all the time betting on the opponent.

The point a lot of people appear to be missing: You lie to your editors, you're gone. End of story.

and there is nothing about how Nuzzi has conducted herself to make anyone think this was a one time error in judgment

Right. We can see from her public advocacy of his campaign that she was compromised. Her job was to dig up dirt on him/ treat him skeptically, not advocate on his behalf to the nation.

I took one course with a decorated journalism professor, and I remember thinking he was too harsh when he mocked journalism as a “profession” because it lacked any self regulatory body like all the other official professions. Dude was right
