Even apart from government policy, I wish more people understood, for their own benefit, just how outrageously good and cheap modern solar panels are.
It’s moving so fast! In 2015 the EPA promulgated a rule that was designed to move the US energy mix from 38% coal to 27% coal by 2030. This rule was struck down by the Supreme Court in West Va v. EPA. Despite that, coal has dropped to about 12% in 2023.

And we're living through a political era in which reactionaries are doing everything they can to fight green energy and reestablish the old status quos.
Canada almost off too. Just a couple small provinces left. The big coal provinces (Ontario & Alberta) both off coal now.
