This paper, also by @jrvollhardt.bsky.social and Rezarta Bilali, gives a powerful empirical example of how different forms of CV belief shape intergroup attitudes: doi: 10.1111/pops.12174

Paper by Vollhardt and Bilali on the effects of different forms of collective victimhood experiences, from Political Psychology in 2015

Chapter 1 of this 2020 book edited by @jrvollhardt.bsky.social is a great intro:

There is also an EJSP special issue on the topic and would recommend the intro article by Masi Noor, @jrvollhardt.bsky.socialpsycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1002/...

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you're looking for but some of the work on White collective victimhood is ... um, revealing. Example papers: Kaiser et al PSPB: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1...www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I get students to read Noor, Brown & Prentice (2008) on competitive victimhood in Northern Ireland. It's usually a good discussion starter about how powerful the victim role can be and how politicians and other people use this.
