I get that. My point is either she's being paid or a company is getting free labor and both seem wrong.
Under the US constitution's 13th amendment, slavery is legal if it's being used as punishment for a crime for which the person has been duly convicted. And a lot of prisons with internal work operations using unpaid/underpaid labour are private companies too. It's wrong morally imo, but still legal.
