oh see I assumed it was that gifted kids are usually given more complex puzzles to solve so they're always looking for complex explanations rather than the simplest one, but this makes sense too (I'm a former gifted kid, ADHD, possibly on the spectrum)

THIS IS IT. I am nearly fifty years old and it is still very hard for me to understand other people don’t think about their desired end goal when making decisions. They’re just out here randomly doing things with no reasoned process like human pinball machines and it’s horrifying.
