Do those concerned about energy use of ai/btc use washing machines, dryers, xmas lights, air conditioning, fans, tvs etc? Why ok to waste energy on these things when alternatives exist: handwash, hang clothes, no xmas lights, deal with heat, books? What is criteria on what energy use is acceptable?
For me, it has to provide a useful function. Crypto doesn't for the vast majority of people. How useful it is determines how much energy it's allowed to waste before I start to look askance at it.
Appliances use a modest amount of energy to do something. Crypto uses an enormous amount of energy to do nothing.
Judging from this post, you should probably consider opening a window instead of running the AC nonstop, because your home is clearly not well-ventilated and contains a source of neurotoxic fumes.
In many ways useful things and a useless thing are different.
I havenโt seen you tagged yet, @estrogenempress.gay. One for the Bitcoin list (bio).
Useful things are generally more worthwhile than useless things
Utility.
Do you use a refrigerator in your home? Ah well you see that is the exact same thing as when I ask the computer to make me Taylor Swift pornography, which uses an Olympic swimming pool worth of water.
