I don’t know if it’s a human nature thing or if it’s the result of people not unpacking their religious upbringing and just grafting their new worldview onto their old one. Either way I think it’s something that needs to be addressed.

A lot of leftists (especially Marxists)treat their ideology like religion. They treat Marx like a prophet, “theory” like scripture, “The Revolution” like the Rapture. I say this as someone who grew up in an evangelical environment and finds it scarily similar.
