As a player in a game of D&D once the GM decided to trap everyone in a dungeon where no divine magic worked for something like 3 months of game sessions. Only character with divine magic was my paladin. It was not fun to have all character abilities arbitrarily stripped away for an extended period.

Agree. For a session, ok, a bit of a change of pace. But 3 months. Oh no, not unless you compensate me with some other in-game toy to play with.
