all republicans actually have to do is hold all their dumbass positions but hold them without racism and it'll be landslides for the next 20 years. But they can't because they love power, but they love racism even more than power

You're looking at it as if nativism and racism are positions and not principles. The one and only principle of conservativism is that they should be able to live amongst their own tribe only. You see all the rest of conservatism as principles, but those are merely positions that can be changed.

I dunno. If they alienate their MAGAt majority, and removing the racism would do that, they would sit out elections. Would there be enough brown votes to overcome that?

Most of their dumbass positions can't hold without the racism. Even "tax cuts" is racism adjacent.

That was basically George W. Bush's big 2000 gamble: "Hey, can we maybe dial down the Racism to, like, 5 or 6, and attract a bunch of somewhat conservative Latino voters?" and the rest of the GOP said "LOL NOPE" once they had 9/11 and brown folks to demonizeThat was basically George W. I am hesitant on this because may be an offsetting number of whites who would otherwise be open to voting for a left party but hang with the Republicans substantially *for* the racism.

lol this is exactly my cousin, who doesn't hold a lot of policy positions except 'make money.' He said, "I'd vote R except it's obvious they don't like people like us." 'Us' meaning not Euro-descent, never mind the American schooling, property-owning, tax-paying, assimilation and naturalization.

Specifically American Conservatism is so deep fried in racism, though. Like it's bone deep with those guys. You might as well ask them to hack their own legs off.

You say that like Republicans weren’t already tying themselves to racism since 1964, materialize it in 1968, and embrace in 1980.

Removing racism from GOP policy is like removing carbon from coal
