Celebrating double digits with #Poemtober#Poetry#Writing

Poem titled "Babysitting" that is written as follows: Babysitting They tug at your sleeve Asking for a tasty treat It’s a bit expensive, But you haven’t had it in a while And work is weighing you down You nod and pay for the confection A single treat for two They poke at you intently A little bothersome Yet it lacks any malice They ask to play a game with you You think to yourself that you’re busy Yet most of the work is finished You ask them to wait until you’re done They agree with a smile, Kicking their feet as they wait You finish up your work, And let them join you For a game you haven’t played In years
Continuation of the poem "Babysitting": They huddle close to you Grasping at your clothes, shaking They say they’re afraid of the dark You say that it’s okay There is nothing to fear in here Yet there’s a slight sense of unease You try to rationalize away There’s no threats, it’s not realistic Guess you never truly grew out of that You walk together towards a light switch And you both let out A sigh of relief The day comes to a close It’s time for bed They tell you how cool you are How much fun they had How much they love you You hesitate Struggling to reciprocate But you look at their little face Telling them that You love them too
