I lived in Florida so it should have been the alligators that lived in the swamp down the street but we were very nonchalant about feeding deadly reptiles marshmallows while keeping a keen eye out for quicksand.
Ironically we did actually encounter real quicksand multiple times on Realms of Inquiry desert field trips they taught us how to escape
