Doing LEGO: "Hey dad. This cabinet is full of awards. They've got your name on them." "Yup." "So many awards. You've got ...Eisners and Hugos and this one is Writer of the Year. You must be a good writer if people give you so many awards." "Thank you." "…Don't they know you're a goofball?"
Lol. It's nice to know you're a fellow goofball (as verified by my daughter).
To be fair to your child, while I know you're an amazing writer and you've done many great works (and teamed up with my all time favorite author, Terry Pratchett), when I hear your name oftentimes my first thought is "Neil Gaiman? What are you doing on my falafel?" when you guest stared on Arthur.
Well, NOW we do.
Cute. Uh, what LEGO set were you building?
"Dad, do they realize you were just improvising bedtime stories for us this whole time?"
Don’t they?
Yes. Yes we know and love you for it :)
"they know my child, and yet here we are" ;) adorable

Sounds like something either of my kids would say. The love LEGO, too.
