yes that's the thing i'm talking about. there's a few in my building who keep trying to host 'building gatherings' that are really about them deciding who is acceptable enough (in all kinds of bizarre ways) to live there and to subtly (or not) try to control ppls behavior.

I agree & wonder if these 'helpful' types are like that in real life to noobs to their neighborhood, building, workplace, etc. They're the block parents or hoa/strata council chairpersons or PTA heads or middle managers. It really is a very middle class (petit bourgeois) type.

i got into Gurdjieff for a while (long time ago). it is interesting, sort of a challenge for people who are into that kind of thing, but also ornamentation & obfuscation. Prototype for the hard core new-agey stuff that came after, not the 'love and light' part of that genre tho

A lot of Americans who studied Gurdjieff don't seem to get what he was on about. I like ambient music sometimes, but not Grouper much. These are 2 different points I realize. Maybe I'm being a little pissy today. I will refrain from music reviews. lol.

Every time I see that I think 'go take your insecurities out on somebody else'. This happens with some regularity. I'm usually patient with this but it took a lot to not confront someone today.
