The North Carolina GOP fucjin literally ran a candidate who claimed to be a pro-choice Democrat right up til they needed to be able to override gubernatorial veto and enact abortion restrictions at which point she flipped parties and people started investigating.

It is impossible to overstate the extent to which North Carolina is not an actual democracy. Like however bad you think it is, it's actually much much worse than that and if it were a middle eastern country with oil we'd invade.
