I shared your post without the link but someone in the comments rectified it. Also I am just going to put out a podcast episode that mentions a British game called Bifrost that describes itself as "a particular kind of war game". And apparently that was code for roleplaying for those in the know.

Original recipe D&D also billed itself as a wargame right on the booklet covers, yeah. There's a whole *thing* there.
