Partially true. But you can, and pepople do, get rid of student debt through bankruptcy. There are millions of Americans over 60 who carry student debt. Dying in debt is not uncommon. Hopefully you'd understand that someone dying with student debt makes that debt bad.

It doesn’t make the debt bad—education should be available to people who aren’t already rich. It makes the terms of that debt bad. Which is why it’s better for the feds to service directly rather than pay private banks,and to forgive as much of it as possible. Good talk.
