#otd 1846 Messrs Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell sent a manuscript of their poetry to publishers Aylott & Jones. It would in fact be the first published book of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte.

The pillar portrait of the Bronte sisters by brother Branwell had been thought lost. It was rediscovered folded on top of a wardrobe in 1914, where it had lain for decades - placed there by Charlotte Bronte’s widower Arthur Bell Nicholls. Here it is now, and after its discovery. #Bronte#art
