Thank you! Any book you’d recommend for someone just dabbling and trying to learn the basics? Also any script in particular you’d recommend to review that gives a good showing of the writing and then the film for comparison’s sake?

Start w/ Syd Field’s SCREENPLAY. the granddaddy of all structure books. There’s also STORY by Robert McKee & Blake Snyder’s SAVE THE CAT. Robert Towne’s CHINATOWN is supposedly “perfect” structure however the first film we saw and read in intro to Screenwriting was DIE HARD. Great structure
