Ontario's health system is bleeding money, paying exorbitant markups to staffing agencies. 💸 Hospitals pay up to $160/hr for agency nurses 💸 A staff nurse in the public system starts at $35.52/hr. Once they reach the highest level of seniority they top out at $61.60/hr.
This should be on every billboard we can find. The govt is choosing to pay a premium for a temp agency rather than pay good salaries to unionized public service nurses.

I am surprised that the Nurses Associations are not addressing this issue more.Where is RNAO CEO Doris Grinspun in this issue? She’s paid by the government so may not want to bite the hand that feeds her.
Hospital budgets would never have planned for these costs.The government must be giving them extra monies without the usual fan fare & photo ops. Otherwise hospitals would be complaining about having to cut services to pay nurses.
