For the last 7 or 8 years my entire life has centered around three important influences. First: the writings of Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling, second: the music of Erik Satie, and lastly: the artworks of the Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. Philosopher, Musician & Artist.
Three years later, Maimon, would publish an extended version of these thoughts on the CPR creating one of the most important and vibrant works in German Idealist thought. The fruit of Maimon's brilliant work produced the seminal 1790 'Essay on Transcendental Philosophy.' [3].
Maimon's written critique was given to Kant by a mutual friend named Markus Herz. Kant was extremely impressed by Maimon's thorough understanding of his thought stating that none of his critics had "understood him & his work better than Herr Maimon." [2].
The brilliant Jewish philosopher Salomon Maimon was first acquainted with Kant's Critique of Pure Reason in 1787. Maimon spent several afternoons reading the CPR intensely. After engaging with the text, he decided to write down his thoughts, and objections. [1].
But Reinhold had his own unique philosophy that sought to ground Kant's Critical project with a solid foundation. If you're interested to learn more you can check out the two books I posted that have been translated into English and are quite affordable. Part 2.
One of the most important voices in Classical German Philosophy was the Austrian philosopher Karl Leonhard Reinhold. Reinhold popularized Kant's Critical philosophy in a series of important letters written for a popular audience that brought Kant to instant fame. Part 1
