Do you have any advice on writing alt text? I find myself at a loss of how to describe things and wind up giving up on it a lot

I used to have the same problem. I usually start with the main subject and the main color if it isn’t already obvious. Then any special points of interest and/or background. I usually keep it to two sentences. Check the alt text on this for an example.

bsky.app/profile/cats... This is a good starting point The most important thing is to capture the overall intention and key features. Don't worry about describing EVERYTHING If you're low on spoons, even just a one-line description can be really useful
