But Billy was worth it. I really didn't expect to be quite so blown away by him. But you cannot beat his song catalog. And to see him having fun with it out there. Priceless.
Saw Billy Joel at the Intuit Dome last night. He was fantastic! Joyful, playful, in great voice with a tight band. And fricking Axl Rose came out to do Live and Let Die with him. The Intuit itself was a nightmare venue. Sound was okay. Everything else blew.
The whole idea behind labeling generations is, as my grandma used to say, kindly bullshit. It's like astrology: fun but not scientific. Dunk on boomers or Gex Z or whoever if it makes you feel better. But it's bullshit.
It was wonderful of Flint to ask me to discuss the archaeology of the Americas. I knew his father, archaeologist Harold Dibble, who I first met when he gave an excellent presentation at the University of Kansas on lithic toolmaking skills of Neanderthals. I know he’d be kvelling over this.
