yes, of course there is something to be said for in-person chats and networking and all the rest but there are people i have worked with for years now that I have barely ever seen in person. it’s absolutely possible to have a coffee with someone over Zoom.

* I say ‘older’ because my experience is that people who have been academics for longer (and are therefore usually quite a bit older than me) are the most resistant to remote/online talks/conferences/meetings — which makes sense if that is how your work was for decades. I started my PhD in 2019 🤷‍♀️
