This is true for the entire approach of universities to student protest—even if representatives of the institution disagree with student speech acts, violent policing is quite literally never an acceptable response. It is actually antithetical to the very terms of accreditation.

Student ‘safety’ has been weaponized to suppress dissent. But, actually, it matters. Students are only safe to learn if they understand that they won’t be assaulted by police or deported by the university or doxxed by profs for opening their mouths: academic freedom.
