The 'boxes' are also a very particular kind of leather put through a very specific process of tanning, hammering, molding, etc. You're effectively paying for the labor involved in making them more than the raw materials.

Honestly, it's really hard to begin to even compare it, since there's so much dogma in Christianity that Judaism doesn't compare to. We have the 613, and some 'sects' may be more or less observant of them. But many of their 'laws' can be widely different on the Christian spectrum.
I think it's because, in a Jungian sense, most people don't process whether they're basing opinions on Feeling vs. Thinking or Perception vs. Judging. But that's just my opinion based on a lot of college Psychology courses and just being interested in the subject in general. lol
