I did not know this, but Ohio has a process for DV survivors to set up a confidential voter registration. If this applies to you and you're in Ohio, here's the link. If this applies to you and you're elsewhere, check with your state or local elections officials or a victims' advocate.

The system for cops who want a private home address means that their records aren’t public. When they show up to vote, the location manager checks them in, the cop writes down their address, the manager checks to see that the address in the precinct, & gives the paper back to the cop, who then votes
