the biggest upside of DSA is that it's actually pretty democratic. if you can convince people on a wide scale, you can actually change the org by doing so (as opposed to CPUSA/PSL which are designed to prevent member control of the organization)

US society is chauvinist, so naturally those elements are present in all US socialist orgs. avoiding any org with chauvinism means staying isolated and disorganized, because they all have it. we'll always have to actually fight against chauvinism, because avoiding it is not possible
