Many such cases. Usually, but not always, a smug white dude. I got “the Dems of today are the Republicans of 30 years ago” from such an acquaintance. I googled both parties’ 1992 platforms (readily available online) and sent him the links.
Jerry Brown was running in the primary that year as The Great Liberal Hope; his platform had a flat tax
